Hello World!

Unsurprisingly, this blog will largely be about books, some of which will inevitably be read in bothys, as my family tick various munro’s off of their list, much as the blog name suggests! While I have bagged a single munro, it took me eight and a half hours to do a climb that even a novice hiker can do in under three hours from car to summit and back to car. Having a connective tissue disorder means that while I aspire to climb mountains, my overly elastic meatsack will not comply, so you’ll find me in a bothy reading a book and enjoying the beauty of nature from a prone position!

I would love to say that I’ll be reviewing and discussing books from a particular set of genres, on a regular schedule, but the truth is my brain doesn’t work that way. My reading tastes are eclectic enough to span contemporary literature, sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, thrillers and poetry and to regularly wander through more academic texts from history and philosophy to theology, to conservation and natural history. What will largely happen is I’ll talk about the books I’ve read and enjoyed because I enjoyed reading them, on a schedule that will be dictated by ADHD!

Anyway, welcome to Books and Bothies. Pull up a seat, throw another log on the fire, pour yourself a drink and settle in to read some books.
